427 pistons and NOS Mickey Thompson rods
« on: February 09, 2020, 07:54:28 PM »
Set of new in the very old box Mickey Thompson aluminum rods for FE. Never been in an engine, taking these picture is the only time they've been out of this cool old box with the C-T Automotive address. $400

New set of JE standard bore domed 427 pistons, bought with the rods back in the mid 60's just one piston had ever been out of the box before taking them all out for these pictures. $350

Another set of Arias pistons for a custom stroker. These are for a .040" overbore and have a short 1.14" pin height and use early Chrysler Hemi size pins, .980". These were for an old M/T half inch stroker setup. $350

Huh, those MT rods would have looked good with the MT pistons I got last yr from John V for my new 427 for the Galaxie!

Note that those rods may be big-end sized (& tanged) for Chrysler 392 Hemi journal dimension, not Ford FE?  Your photos, including the old oil soaked cardboard box look just like the ones' I've had on a shelf here for three or more decades.  But not sure of the original recipient address though?

I believe these came about with Mickey Thompson's racing efforts with the T.F. blown 427 Cammer, and abandoning the FE dimension rod bearing for what proved to be the more successful one of the 392.        :)

No they seem to be standard FE dimensions. They probably predate them using the smaller rod journals. The recipient on the box is a Hawaiian race engine shop. Guy I got them off got them from a guy with an AFX Comet. Not sure if that was Earl Char or the guy after him.

Yes, still have the rods. I thought i'd sold them yesterday, but no. They are standard FE length, pin and journal size. Here is a C6AE-C rod from a 390 laid overtop one.
