Wanted 390 Rods, maybe rotating assy.
« on: September 11, 2019, 04:46:49 PM »
I had my last 3 FE blocks at local machine shop and they have destroyed it all with crappy machine work.

Messed up align hone on all 3 blocks by mixing up caps then did more caps from other blocks and tried to fix with align hone.
blocks are all toast with .0045 to .009" off at parting line. Caps are all angle cut so far its unreal. I could have done better with a blindfold and a homemade file.

I was building a basic 410 for my '66 F100 Short Bed. I had one basic 390 sold to help cover costs of mine but its all gone south now. The mains on the 1U crank I had were barrel shaped and its near impossible in Phoenix area to find anyone that can properly turn a crank.

Looking for a Nice set of untouched 390/428 Rods.

Depending on what is out there and avail now may buy a rotating assy.

I did find a std bore 390 block hoping I can use for the build.

What do you have?

For new rotating assemblies which ones are good out of box? if any . . Looking at a Scat 4.125 (because its readily avail)

Would like to be 9.0 to 9.5 compression on a zero deck deal.

Below is my ad from the old FE Forum on a 390 rotating assembly I pulled from a fresh build for a stroker kit. If that is something you would be interested in let me know and make an offer. I also have a 410 rotating assembly with .030 over pistons, 428 crank and rods along with a fresh machined .030 390 block that I really don't have plans for now. Email me if interested greg.williams16@att.net

Randy, anything you need, let me know. I've got a whole thunderbird 390 engine sitting in the barn that needs to go away.....it would require a road trip for you to come to Colorado to get though. I saw your post about the potential of an LS3 replacement, if you're still back and forth between the FE, I've got plenty of stuff to get you going.

LS3 on the way but posted as a joke. it's actually going in my friends '56 BelAir

Do need a nice set of untouched stock rods.

Sold my '18 F150 to finish up other projects so no truck to travel in at the moment. What year is the Tbird 390?
