Anyone Heavy Used An 8N 6 Cylinder Tractor.
« on: September 10, 2019, 11:20:51 AM »
Anyone used the I6 or V8 conversion and had problems with over loading the PTO/transmission? Specificly running an 8' shredder?  No need to turn it over 2600 rpms. I know these are solid tractors with the 23hp Flat 4.

EDIT: The specs for the 8N claim 30hp

I would be gentle with that Funk conversion, I have a 6-cylinder version as well- the problem being running a 100hp pickup engine thru the driveline of a 23hp tractor. Mine also has had a backhoe (and loader) attachment added, with a PTO-driven pump. I also have some spare Funk parts

I thought of getting the flathead swap kit for my '49 8N,, but the price tag kinda stopped me.. my stock engine works great so will decide when it goes out..

Reverse is a little high and not having a live PTO takes some getting used to but I am pleased so far. The added weight of the blade, engine and extra length make it a lot more stable than I anticipated.

I have six Ford '55-'59, both 600 & 800 series tractors, I would like to convert one of them to a 302. Does anyone know of a conversion kit or just a transmission adapter?
