A little "bonus" running TFS heads
« on: August 17, 2019, 01:28:39 PM »
I was fortunate enough to have the correct valve geometry with the raised mounting pad and my Dove HD rocker system. However when I pulled the valve covers off today I found the rocker arms were hitting the baffles on my Cobra Lemans valve covers and to the point that three of those drive-in rivets are missing and presumed to be in the oil pan now. I checked that when I put the heads on and dented the baffle some to clear the rocker arms but I guess there is a difference between static clearance and clearance at 6500 rpm.  ::)
Just something more to check when you use those heads.

No gasket?
Maybe it will clear with cork gaskets.

I was in the process of replacing the gaskets so the gasket was missing when I took the picture. I didn't want to do away with the baffle completely so I made some holes in the spots where the rub marks were. I think that will do the trick.

When I was running factory adjustable rockers with the lock nut instead of the thread retention I had the same thing happen.  I was down right frightening because it sounded like a rod until you lifted the hood.  I have Dove rollers currently. They clear the cover with factory iron or Edelbrocks. Improvise, overcome and adapt!
