Not a god week

Well the winter is here, Cold darknes and snow. So whats better
than hide in the shop and tear in to a couple of FE,s i have
and sonic test the blocks. To see wich one if  any to use for
a stroker engine.
Started monday morning cleaning up the shop. By 10 a clock
i had to take the wife to hospital 50 miles away.Home at 16
a clock then my stepson call.

 His car wont start so his girlfriend
is stranded with it -22 deg celsius go there tow it home to me
The distcap is bad ther rotor is bad the plugs well,,,, Everything
is closed by now but a gasstation have plugs no rotor or cap
put in new plugs and it starts but die give it a shot of eter and
it runs but die soon...hmm no fuel ,,,

Tuesday morning tried to buy fuel filter,cap and rotor  nope
not in stock .Come on its not a duesenberg its a freaking
Mercedes 190 from the 90s the roads is ful of them no
not in stock but can have them by wendsday.

I go home make some coffe. Feels a litle chilly inside the house.
Well the screw that feeds the boiler with pellets have stoped
starts it up ewerything seems fine and boiler is running
Ahhh coffe break at last  SQEEEK SQQRRROIINGS.
What the hell   runns down the basement
the screw is stopped again
Cant move it by hand 
Allright get out the tools and tear it down and find a knife in it
not my knife that plus answering the phone and walking the dog
filled that day

Wensday cleaned the shop organised tings nice and trowed a lot of junk
Nope no parts for the Mercedes come back in a day or two

Today wife still in hospital. I pack a suitecase with clothes for here
and go 50 miles open the trunk and
I left  the damed suitcase in the hallway
Well spent a couple of hours with her. Starts the car to go home
lights on, seat heater on, heaterfan on full,then i have it warm and cosy . Abs light on?, all indicator lights on?
Tach jumping all over the scale? Mmmmmm nice alternator gone bad
Its dark its -26 celsius i have 45 miles home. Call my dad to come and
meet me with a fresh batery along the way. If i drive 50 mph i get
heat inside the car without fan but i can only drive 30 mph in the dark
without lights .Managed to get to the only gasstation on the route
where the car dies. Fine gasstations have spareparts right??

Nooooooooo but they got hotdogs, bananas, beer,pornmags,
but well and behold they got 3 dusty batterys on the bottom shelf, final sale
buy a batt. Ask the girl behind the counter if she got any tools,,,,,,,yeah,,,,
But she was wery BLOND and wery beautyful
I have a carpenters hammer  in the car :)useful to many tasks
now im home 2 batts later
To late to get an alternator and i gues i have to order it and wait
till after the weekend
And the wifes suitcase is stil in the hallway i gues she have to wear
the granny panties the hospital provide ower the weekend

30 years ago i could have bought all the parts i needed this week
at any gasstation of the grumpy old man in coverall behind the counter

Now im the grumpy old man and Blondie peddling hotdogs and pornmags

Hah! That's both sad and hilarious at the same time. Seems though you can still laugh about it all.

Just remember, Spring and warm weather is only months away! How's that for optimism?

Well you just have to laugh nothing else to do.
And more fun coming up it starts to snow tomorow
real much so i have to fix the hydrualic system
on the tractor.  (that i should done when it was
summer and nice )And put on the snowchains
there goes the rest of the whole week i had
planed to spend only on some FE fun

I think she was a 7-8. Maby a 9 a couple
of pound of hotdogs ago

I have only been to Europe once in the winter but that was enough for me. I don't know how you guys do it. I spew when it gets down to 8C here.
Oh, and its a balmy 36C here today.

If you have spare blocks maybe you could make an FE powered boiler feeder?

Finaly he found the dist cap and rotor no fuel filter no
air filter
Ask him if he got an alternator in stock for a 300 Mercedes
But you ordered parts to a 190??yes but i need an alt for a 300.

Dont need to check i know i dont have any alternators
  (why the hell ask the if gas or diesel)
Go pick up stepson go home install new cap and rotor
starts the car and it starts easy now but  just dies try again
same...uhumm vaccum leak force my arm under the manifold
the hose from the valve thats control the idle had popped of
Well it realy needed a tuneup anyway
Take out the regulator and brushes from my allt
the wire to one brush is cut.
Find a used regulator in the shop with okay
brushes  ;D5minutes later i
have a working car again go 50 miles WITH
the suitcase for the wife this time. Spend a
couple of hours there go home 50 miles
Have not touched an Fe yet

Anytime you can sit back and laugh at a week like that you got life by the short ones!

Heo, yes it's been a week to remember... Hope yr wife is doing better too. Do you want to tell us about your plans for the FE blocks should they test ok?  Hehe a little therapy!

Yes wife is better now maby home by Monday.
And we only got 4 inches of snow dont need chains
for that, and the hydraulic system.... Well it works
but a litle slow so i can live with that for now(said that
last winter to )
I have big plans for the FEs but im glad if i can tear
them down
The plan is to build a stroker for the Galaxie
Dependabel and not TO thirsty. Its a long drive
to everything
So the plans are a prisson break kit from Survival.
Probably Barrys new heads, homebuilt EFI with
individual runners,just for the fun of building stuff
Probably cheaper and a lot faster to buy one
Duraspark ign,tko600. Just a fast comfortabel
highway cruiser
If any of the blocks turn out god otherwise
i just freshen up the original 390 pi in the car
for now. And buy a aftermarket block later
