Deeper pilot bushing source?
« on: July 05, 2019, 07:52:43 PM »
Anyone have a source for a deeper pilot bushing to run a truck bell with a short snout 390 style Toploader?

Thanks
Jack

I don't but here are pics of a few I use to have. Maybe a search by Compo name could help? C5TZ-A.

Jack, it's been about 12 years, but I bought the pilot bushing you are looking for at O'Reilly Auto Supply.  I also used a truck bell and the deep bushing did the trick.  But I could never get the air gap adjusted properly with the clutch until I bought a truck throwout bearing that is used with the truck bell.

Thanks Doug, I wasn't aware that Ford ever made one and the ones I have seen have been solid without a recessed area. It's hard to tell if that's what I'm looking for without having it in my hands.

I'll check with Oriellys.

I bought three from different company's, Summit, Jegs etc., and did not like any, so a friend that's a machinist made mine. Came out perfect, with 1/2" sitting on my Tremec shaft very happy.

Is that C5TZ-A a standard size pilot? (.667")
I have a heavy truck tranny that uses the big clutch and the pilot tip is a lot larger diameter than a car tranny.
