Back around 2009, when I heard that Ford was going to discontinue building the Ranger, I knew that I had to buy a new one before then. So I ordered a new Ranger in late 2009, and took delivery in Jan 2010, ad it still has its sticker on the rear window that says " Built at Twin Cities Ford Plant". Watching this film gave me a whole new appreciation of Henry Fords vision, what a monumental task to build such a massive complex! Its a shame to see such an iconic plant, go under the wrecking ball, but I suppose time marches on. I have always wanted to take a tour of a Ford assembly plant, its still on the bucket list. It sure would have been cool to have taken such a tour back in the 50s or 60s.

Especially what the factory looked like before the 60's expansion. Far better looking than what's there now.

Thanks for that share, I enjoyed it !!  Heck, I live here and didn't know half that stuff, ha !  :P

Sadly, I never got a peek inside, but did attend the annual swap meet that was on the lot some 25+ yrs ago, fun time !  As far as other plant tours go, when I was a Ford parts manager I got a chance to take the nickel tour of the massive Ford Detroit PDC (parts distribution center) on Telegraph Rd --wow is I all I could say after that, and even still today. No pics were allowed so I don't have any to share, but maybe someday I'll find something online about it. ?

Great video on the Ford plant and interesting history on that Speedway! Perhaps it just held the one race but no more than a few.

My takeaway was of the line worker slamming the crank into the bottom of a flattie. Holy crap.
