So the first FE that cut my teeth was my fathers 68 F100 4x4 short box.  It had the Dana 60 5 bolt rear, NP435, and was delivered with a 360 that he bored, cammed, worked the heads, and hated the engine with a passion LOL

By the time I was old enough to understand, he had hired another mechanic in the shop that was an FE racer.  He ran a hot CJ Fairlane/Cobra-something, I was young hard to remember.  However, my dad took his takeoff parts and built a 390 with CJ heads, intake, 600 Holley, headers, 2.5 inch glasspacks all the way out the back, and 3.50 gears with back then L78-15 tires (I think that was the old numbering system) basically short little truck tires.

That truck ran incredibly strong, and more than that, he got 200K out of that engine with only one rebuild on the 390 and 400K out of the whole truck and he worked it.

The truck died in a garage fire we had, 15-18 vehicles and a shop cat and dog lost.  Dad felt worse about the animals than all the vehicles.  I had a 389 Lemans fold into the fire too.   I swear we would have still had that truck in the family if it didn't burn

Here is the cool part, I tore that 200K motor apart and the crank was still standard and turns out it was a $ crank, little did I know he had a good one from the racing buddy. I had to cut it .010/.010, but using that crank, his truck lived on through my Mustang's 427 the first time (1996-2006) and after I stroked it, it sat on the shelf and last year went into my bench build 390 (tight quench 4V with CJ big bolt rods and the good crank)

Guess what, that cheapo bench build runs like a champ too, must be the spirit of the "green truck" as my dad used to call it

Nobody was offended Heo.  That is just a silly internet game people play.  "you're offended!"  "no, you're offended!" I just called you out.  I am an old school guy.  Apparently "older school" than you.  A long time ago, women were treated with respect.  It didn't make you less of a man.  But that is where we are?  I will tell you my opinion whether you like it or not.

Sounds like your dad built the fabled 390CJ that Ford should've built.  That's too bad about the animals.

Somebody feed that chick.  Is she from eastern Europe or something?

Um, I think it's Heo's wife, paulie.

Hold on a sec.  So Heo posts a pic of his "wife" without clothes on, laying on his car....and I'M the bad guy?  I know it's 2019, but......

I don't see where anyone called you the bad guy. Voices in your head? Too many Big Macs? You know that fast food will kill you.

Guilty on all counts.  I'm Irish (Irish-American), remember?

Get it?  See like guilt (Catholics) and Big "Mac's"?  Though I guess "Mac" is more Scottish, but they still call us "Dirty Mic's". Yeah?  No?  Maybe?  :)

Umm, I'm pretty sure there are a LOT of women who would disagree with that statement. And given the nature of the picture, I don't think "respect" is what she was after..lol
But hey, it's your story...

Not only am I half-Irish, the other half is hot-blooded Spaniard. Yet, quizzically, I am the nicest, most congenial, polite, understated person on the Internet today. With a warmth for my fellow man that evokes images of Mr. Rogers, all I do is strive to put a smile on everyone's face, regardless of gender, religion, political beliefs, or place of origin.

What you ARE guilty of, my little paddy friend, is using apostrophes WHERE THEY DON'T BELONG!! Death to you, you clover-snorting, Guiness-swilling, Leprechaun-humping MICK!

OK, I'm temporarily out of stereotypes. How'd I do?

I don't think Heo forced her to strip and climb on the roof half naked to take the pic by gun point, looks like she was kinda into it.

I like cool cars and cute women you can post as many as you want. If I don't like it, I just won't look at it. No triggering SJW snowflake tears needed.

(Although I hear snowflake tears are great when sprinkled on dolphin burgers, but no first hand knowledge)

And my first FE experience as far as driving/riding in something powered by one is my Dad's hiboy which I still own. 180 mildly irritated horsepowers of 360 NP435 and the 66 F250 2wd with a 390, C6 and factory dealer underdash AC which, if you were a little kid and left you coke can on the trans hump infront of the AC evaporator it'll freeze and explode and then Dad give you "the look".

My first experience working on a FE was a solid lifter 390 in a Gal that the neighbor lady had. She got it in a divorce and knew nothing about it. Thing was barely running when she brought it over. I don't think it had a tuneup or oil change since the divorce. Serviced it and set the valves and it was a monster for what it was. I even got to drive it around the neighborhood (I think I was 12 maybe), first time I got to drive on the road by myself.

It wouldn't have taken much given I think she weighed as much as the car did, at least at the time of the divorce. When she moved out of the neighborhood a few years later she had lost a LOT of weight and looked pretty good. Around the same time this gal moved out another girl moved in and she was definitely single, and a a party girl. Had a big block Chevelle (another divorce car, but when she sold that she got another big block chevy car so it wasn't just because of the divorce) I worked on a few times and she was good looking and not a missed opportunity there.

My first "real FE experience" not my fathers 1964 Merc 390 Wagon was with some of my best friends from elementary school age.
The 2 brothers  Jacobs had their father who was always a Ford/Merc guy. First car of his I saw was a 57 Merc 2dr HT with a 383 Y-block?

Any way he later bought a 64 Galaxie Convert and his oldest son John bought a 64 R code 2dr HT. That was one fast car until he totaled it about a year later. That R-code started a trend. In 67 or 68 Fred bought a 56 Ford 2dr post car and because I had a welder I helped with the brackets to install an Econoline I beam and a 427 & toploader. Huge hole for the trans shifter so if it got stuck you could just reach down and tap the shift levers. That car sure did embarrass some late 60's muscle cars on Woodward. BTW we lived in Pontiac Twp. (now Auburn Hills) and they ran and closed the Cities Service Gas station at the 5 points intersection.  During the 1968 Detroit riots no one was out at night so Fred and Jerry were doing burnouts at the intersection until the State Police arrived. No ticket or arrest because we were just being obnoxious and not a treat to pubic safety (we were 40 miles north of Detroit).

The next iteration was a 56 Black 2dr HT. with the same config. but much more professionally done. Lost track of them when I went to Oakland University. Jerry Moved to the Denver area and later Fred was killed by a drunk who cross the centerline and hit him head on while he was on a chopper.

I still cherish those days, building the cars and Woodward AVE.
