Shipping charges

I just sold an intake to another forum member and the cheapest shipping I could find was $77.00 from Oklahoma to Iowa.
Does anybody know a cheaper way to ship product's?
I knew the charges went up on January 1 but didn't know they went up this high.

Both UPS and Fedex.
Those are all we have here.
The post office has lost and damaged to much stuff over the years so I quit useing them.

I fly for American and we have an Interline agreement with Fed Ex. I use them all the time. I am surprised at the cost of Fed Ex home delivery ( ground) is that expensive. They are usually in the 35.00 range, retail.  Is the box oversize? They charge by dimensional weight. UPS has got ridiculous. 7 days for them to ship from Salem Oregon to Colleyville, TX.  Fed Ex is usually four days or less.
Did you go into a location that is corporate, or one of the contract locations? I assume you're taking it to the station? There is quite a surcharge for pick up, especially in rural locations for both entities.

The box was just big enough for the intake and packing material to fit in. It weighed 32 lbs. The size was 25x24x10.
I bought the intake in November and the shipping from
Tenn to Okla was 45 dollars.
I just thought the rate increase was a little excessive.
I have been shipping with both company's for years and all ways thought they were a little high but reasonable.
I think they are charging the home shipper more then the company's but don't know for sure. Will drop off in the morning.

My intake adapters ship in a 24X18X6 box, weigh about 33 pounds, and typically cost in the range of $35-$45 to ship anywhere in the country.  Sounds like you are shipping an oversized box, or there is some other issue; no way the shipping charges should be that high.

I will bring it up tomorrow when I get there and see if I can get my customer a partial refund.

Of note.... using a retail fed ex or post net etc is very expensive.
I have accounts with fed ex, ups, and usps. Print labels at home. Much cheaper and faster.

I did this online and printed my label at home when I packaged it up.
I will talk to them tomorrow and see what they say.
I use the UPS and Fed ex company drop off sites. The only time I used a retail store was when I had to ship a wheelchair to Calif.

Right on. Sometimes 23 inch long is $40 less than 24.

I love usps large flat rate boxes for carbs.  just wish they were one inch taller.

I think there was a mix up and will find out tomorrow morning.
I didn't know 1 inch could make that much difference.
The problem I have is it is a 70 mile round trip to the nearest big town that has these services.
Finding stuff like boxs and shipping materials is a real hassle but I guess I will have to live with it.

Dropped off the intake today and the lady checked and found out they charged me $22.00 for pick up even though I checked the drop off box. I got a refund.
