MEL on cover of new Hot Rod, forum members inside
« on: January 07, 2019, 07:46:09 PM »
The Engine Masters winning MEL of our forum member Royce B. & Jon Kasse is featured on the cover of the new March 2019 Hot Rod. One sharp and stout looking engine! Also inside in the Engine Masters coverage are pictures and specs of the entries of forum members Joe Craine ( Y-Block ) & Barry Robotnick ( FE ). Way to go! There was discussion of these engines on the forum last fall. We were privileged to have Royce in the FE Power booth at PRI last month, answering questions for his fans.

Really did enjoy the EMC with Royce, Jon, Ted E., Scott, Barry, and others there.  Just wish there was another chance to prove the little Y Block with decent fuel.  Hopefully there will be a class the Fords can make a good showing in this year.

A good showing?.. I thought the Fords had a good showing with Vintage class taking the top 3 and Traditional muscle: First place.  Fords have done quite well at EM over the years and with a wider variation of Ford engine families. Kinda rubs me the wrong way that these achievements are not acknowledged in the magazines that favor one make over another. I'd like to see less brand bias reporting in car magazines.

There will be one, as soon as I have the first castings and can post pictures of them.  I've got a few of my own ideas, but sometimes my ideas aren't the greatest when it comes to this stuff.  Felony will have some interesting input, no doubt  ;D

This year, this year is 2019.  LOL.   Anyway, there is only a pre '68 Big Block class where a Ford might be entered unless you want to enter a Coyote.  They seem to be catering to the LS/Coyote crowd now, with a under 30 years age group for spec engine dyno test.  Joe-JDC

Rule are still in flux.  They tried a "Modular class" a couple years ago and a grand total of "zero" guys entered.  They ended up expanding the other classes to fill the slots.  Coyote class might end up the same way.  They just specified "Coyote" without further definition.  Wonder if anybody has an old Foyt-Coyote Indy car engine sitting around?

Sorry Joe...I took that comment as 2018. I'm still writing '2018' on checks. :-[  My mistake.

No problem, just got a check from a guy that put 2080 as the year.  The bank teller just about flipped when she saw that.  We had a good laugh, but it took two weeks to get another check here.  Not many folks are writing checks anymore, so it is hard to remember to write the correct year.  The problem I see with EMC is that they don't get the rules out in a timely manner, which leaves those who need to buy pistons, rods, camshafts, heads, headers, or whatever, run into a time crunch.   Joe-JDC
