Let's see those old time performance stickers!
« on: October 08, 2012, 10:08:41 PM »
Once in a while I will think about all the old stickers I had collected back in the late 70s and early 80s and wish I hadn't thrown them all out.  I did save one, though.  Who else has some old stickers stuck on a window or a wall somewhere?  Post up the pics!  I'll start; sorry for the glare:

This old girl has been with me for some time...

Almost afraid to take it off the wall.. it probably would not survive the procedure.

Jay, you made me dig out a scrapbook I had when I was about 12. I remember sending away for the Pontiac stickers ( thankfully I never turned to the dark side ) and the Bardahl stickers I think you sent a SASE away. STP stickers were everywhere in the 60's. There was an issue of Hot Rod magazine in about 1966 maybe that included a free decal. Don't know how much STP it sold, but from a marketing standpoint is was brilliant.

My first big boy box.
Some old stickers from long gone projects and even an old navy one.  :P
Love my new poster for my new little shop.
I have a huge stack of them in a folder going back many years. I'll give them to my grandsons when they get a bit older.

Kevin, I just noticed the Ram Rod sticker at the bottom of your scrapbook.  What was that for?  I've never heard of "Ram Rod"...

I think I'll change the title of this thread to "Let's see those old time performance stickers and life sized action figures!"

Jay, regarding the "Ram Rod" sticker, that's a good question. I hadn't looked at that scrap book in a long time. When I dug it out I had the same thought. I did some google searching tonight and it looks like Fenton had a Torq-thrush knockoff wheel called the Ram Rod about that era. Maybe that's what it's from, anyone have an idea? Another Google result mentioned JC Penney. I do remember JC Penney getting into the aftermarket parts business and promoting it by giving away decals at some event. I'm sure I pestered my mom to drop me off while at the mall. I think that's where the car related one's in this photo came from, and possibly the Ram Rod one too.  I'm sure all the "Cool" ones were long gone lol.

In 1970, I mailed one dollar to Carroll Shelby Automotive to receive this Shelby Cobra decal and a Shelby Mustang sales brochure. Stuck the sticker inside the trunk lid of my 68 Fastback.....it is still there.
