Using "Racing" forged pistons on the street
« on: November 21, 2018, 10:01:11 PM »
I have the opportunity to get some custom Ross Racing 12:1 pistons at a very good price for my 521. However they are made from the softer 2618 alloy. This will go in a limited street/strip application with maybe a max of 2500 miles/yr on the street with DragWeek included. Will these stand up to limited street use or should I steer clear of a perceived "good deal"?

They'll be fine.  Not the right choice for 100,000 miles - but for your specified usage they will do just dandy.

I have used Ross pistons on several engine builds. They are a thing of beauty.
