Shot Peening rods question
« on: November 16, 2018, 05:49:03 PM »
Hello, I have a set of 390 polished rods I am going to have shot peened. The shop says they have a machine that hits them with a .020 media balls. Is that a standard method? He says he just puts the rod in and it is automatically done in the machine. Is this an acceptable method? Thanks

I thought you might get an answer. If the shop you are using has an automated shot peening machine, them that is how it's done
They pick the size media and velocity to get the desired surface compaction and the machine does the rest. The machines are expensive.
