« on: November 11, 2018, 01:09:25 PM »
I am thinking about going the intake adapter and tunnel ram route.  what carbs would you recommend on a 463 stroker, solid roller. 11.5 to 1?  anybody selling one?  thanks  ron

How do you intend to use the vehicle? With the cubes, solid roller, and compression you'll have a healthy engine, but will you just be racing it?, occasional street? mostly Sunday car show cruises? It can make a difference on best carbs to pick. The Weiand Cleveland tunnel ram is still available new from places like Summit, Jegs, etc. fairly reasonable, and Jay's testing has shown that's the best choice so far. I picked up an old Offy Cleveland tunnel ram locally a few years ago, so check your local craigslist, etc. too, you might find one, but again Jay's testing showed the Weiand made more power. But if you're just going for the look it would work fine.

Just drag racing?  run dual 660 center squirters.

Just street?  run dual 600's

Street driven but want track performance at the sacrifice of some street happiness? dual 750's

+ 2 on the 660's . Add secondary metering blocks and make the basic mods and you got the best duel quad racing carbs for 500 inches or less.

A possible alternative to the 660s would be a pair of 650DPs - IMHO.  660s are out of production and costs are going up.

660's are still being produced, they are just expensive.  Can't say I've played with the new ones.

I've got about 6-7 sets of 660 cores here I'm restoring as time permits, they won't be THAT expensive.

I'm in Error then, I for sure read something from Holley that said they were killing off the 4224.  Can't find it now, maybe they backed off.  $735.95 on the Holley site.  I missed a pair on local racing junk FB page for $200, kicking myself LOL.

I missed a pair of 4223 850CS's for $200.....  I feel ya :P

Of course Holley just got bought out again, so anything goes.  They also seem to be turning away and not doing restorations anymore.

Holley did discontinue the List 4224 Center Squirters at one point not that long ago, they even had a closeout sale on them ( not really much cheaper ) stating that would be it. Then they brought them back, must have been enough people demanding them. So you're both right LOL.

LOL
I been in the right place but it must have been the wrong time
I'd have said the right thing but I must have used the wrong line
I'd have took the right road but I must have took a wrong turn
Would've made the right move but I made it at the wrong time
I been on the right road but I must have used the wrong car
My head was in a good place and I wonder what it's bad for

Jay did testing for his book with an original PSE adapter, comparing to the Ford Tunnel Wedge and the Dove Tunnel Wedge, and he's done testing with his FE Power intake adapter, maybe he will see this and add his thoughts.

A couple things I'll say, you may want to add a few more details of the engine you're going to use it on, the vehicle combination, etc.

The other thing is...there are currently three versions of the Tunnel Wedge out there, and a 4th version to be released. The three that have been around are the Ford Tunnel Wedge, the Dove Tunnel Wedge and the BBM Tunnel Wedge - all three are different from each other, the Dove and BBM are not exact copies of the Ford, they are all sized different and reports from testing show they may all have different characteristics. The BBM Tunnel Wedge is the only one currently available new, assuning they're in stock. Reports from the SEMA show are that Trick Flow is going to release a Tunnel Wedge intake, no one knows yet if it will be an exact copy of the original Ford Tunnel Wedge, or closer to one of the other versions, so it's a bit of a wild card. Anyway, for purposes of the question, do you have a certain Tunnel Wedge in mind? Do you have one already?
