Paging Drew - quickie dual 1850 cal
« on: September 09, 2018, 02:14:11 PM »
I can't seem to find the post with all the 1850 data.  If you have a minute, would you be able to post a quick & dirty 1850 calibration.  Going to put them on for Cruise Night and maybe a trip to the strip later.  Provided the wife can see over them.  The misses also drive the car and is reserving judgement on the whole thing LOL.  Weiand ram on the 351C.  I'm actually thinking they may work just fine for that with the box stock Holley jetting.  I have a pair of older plates I can drill for the back if you think necessary.  Plenty of pin drills here down to #80.  Thanks!

I’m at drag week so don’t have access to my laptop and calibration info

Off top of my head:

.063 iab
.031 hsab
.028 siab
.026 s hsab
.066 jet
Plug upper dogleg feed to emulsion tube (I use 4-40 set screw)
Plug lowest emulsion
Upper emulsion is .028
Drill angle channel dimple to .026
Drill high angle .026 into idle well from angle channel.

There is a good bit of variation allowable. Hsab can be .028 if need be (it is stock)
Secondary ifr is .035-.040 secondary main feed .078 works well

Again very free form. .026 does well for ifr also. Really depends on cam and intake vacuum.

Hope this helps. Again off the top of my head.

For stock engines or high intake vac I use a different calibration

.070 iab
.031 hsab
.026 ifr
.031 s iab
.028 s hsab
65 jet
S ifr .031
S jet .074
I still block lowest emulsion, plug emulsion tube feed, drill angle channel
At .028 and no further holes

No hurry, be several days before I get the intake on - have 6 weeks to Cruse night.  When you get back, may need more info on some of the specifics.  Will take the carbs apart and check them over.

352C 10.5:1 ported heads flow 350/199, cam is a Howards hydro roller 233/241, .593/.611 110 LS, 106 ICL.  About 480 HP.  Note the driveline - 4600 stall, 4.56 gears 28" tires.  So not your typical putt-putt.  Runs 7.60s @ 93 in the 1/8 with a mis-matched Funnelweb 2V intake and 650 DP.

For that I’d use the first setup. You’ll need a big pump shot. .035 and a white squirter, which
Should be stock for a -1 or -2, the -3 and later use the orange. Again test and see.

Thanks.  LOL on "big pump shot" - I run 351Cs, on a single plane a "light" pump shot with a DP will be .037/.039, on a single maybe .040 to as much as .046.  The Eds I used on a ram also used .035, you just had to drill a couple because the only off-the-shelf unit was .028, .033 and .043.

I'll look for a white cam - I usually don't change the cams except to set for most shot if required.  I just keep jacking the shot until it leaves.
