I would ask "Mr. Tech Guy", where in the rule book is says that you have to retrofit a clutch interuption switch in a car that was never equipped with one from the factory. I have raced my stick cars all over the West coast, in brackets, Stock Eliminator, at NHRA National Events and Divisional points meets, and never ONCE had a Tech guy tell me I needed such a device. I have had the occasional Tech guy ask about a nuetral safety switch, but as soon as I told them it was a clutch car, or they noticed that when they looked inside, they always said, never mind. Even my 85 Mustang Stocker, which would have come with a clutch switch from the factory, if it had been a factory 5.0L 5 speed car (it started life as a 2.3 4 cyl automatic car), never had a switch when I raced it, and never had any issues with Tech, even 1200 miles from home. Sounds like your Tech guy may be on a bit of a "power trip", a call to either the Disional Tech Office, or your tracks head Tech guy should get him straightened out in short order.
