Question about a M/T crossram intake
« on: May 15, 2018, 11:29:43 AM »
I've had  the distributor modified and the lower midshaft extension made buy 427Jim here in SW Oregon (thanks Jim W.).
My question is about the aluminum piece that holds the shaft extension, probably called an adapter/spacer/bushing. Does that need to have a setscrew thru the block in the distributor casting to stop any rotation tendency or is just downward force sufficient? It wouldn't be difficult to drill and tap for a setscrew.

Thanks   Richard >>> FERoadster

Richard, When I had my M/T cross ram there was no set screw or any other positive anchoring device for the adapter/spacer. I have no idea if it actually turned when the engine was running.

FWIW

I've had the original pieces supplied with the intakes along with several of the manifolds. No set screws or evidence of rotation of the lower distributor section on used intakes that I've found. When you bought the intake new it came with instructions on how to modify the distributor or it could be sent to M/T to be done for you.
