Hey Joe! In the other place you mentioned the alloy '69 Windsor intake. I have that C9OX-A intake cast by Buddy Bar. Have you ever flowed one? Interested in how it stacks up against "modern" intakes. Same question for the C9OX-B 302 intake, as I have one of those also. Ford advertised that for a 302 using 351 heads, IIRC.

Also, for your own "tidbits" file, if you didn't already know... the person I bought the -A part from years ago also had a Buddy Bar casting that was identical to the over-the-counter piece except that the carb pad was 1" higher. I don't think it had a part number, but it's been a while and I won't swear to that. Same Buddy Bar logo underneath. Was not for sale, unfortunately.

   Sorry , not Duke of Windsor , but I did so testing on that intake "back in the day". That manifold is similar to the CJ/PI FE deal. While lighter , it was slower at the track than the stock cast iron 351W intake. A modern Performer RPM or air gap or Vic Jr is FAR better. The original version said SHELBY and was OEM on '69-70 GT350s . The version you have was the OTC "Muscle Parts" offering.

Yes, I have flowed the C9 intake in both FORD and SHELBY lettering.  I still own one, and the ports are very big for a stockish Windsor.  It was almost impossible to balance the flow between the planes, and there were no heads at the time that would support the intake.  I would have to dig through 25 years of flow sheets, but if memory is anywhere close to correct, it flowed in the 350-370cfm range after a gasket match.  I raced a Port O Sonic on my 357W with better success before the Victor Jr became available.  The Victor Jr out of the box flows ~310-315 cfm average, and the RPM Air Gap averages ~285 cfm. (351W intakes only)  I prefer to open the Victor Jr up to 120% of whatever a head flows, and the RPM Air Gap to 110% of the head flow.  Some of the better heads like the TFS High Port heads now flow over 340 cfm, and getting 400 cfm out of the Victor Jr is still possible without making the ports larger than the 1250 gasket size.  I really like the whole family of 351W style engines for anything short of restorations and especially for Fox mustang sleepers.  You can build a 351--462W that weighs less than a stock 302HO.  Joe-JDC

Matching port flow aside, do you think the C9 will support 393 inches going through C9 heads, old-school ported by Valley Head Service with 1.94/1.60 valves? I like the idea of a visually stock stroker. My intake is FORD lettered. I have the lower end with an Adney Brown crank, late '70's rods, and all kinds of 302 piston configurations to play with. I'd love to use stock exhausts, but I think they be chokies, so I picked up a pair of Doug's Windsor-specific shock tower mid-length headers.

gt350hr mentioned that the iron C9 is faster than the alloy one. What do you think, Joe? I have one of those, also.

Is there a good SBF forum?

I have always liked the iron intakes if you use a round stone to smooth out the interior corners, especially the couple that make nearly a 90* turn.  I use several sizes of round stones 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1" with my high speed grinders when working with iron heads or intakes.  I special order them with 3" or 3 1/2" mandrels to reach into the ports as far as possible so there is less work for carbides to finish.  Joe-JDC
