Rocky Mountain Race Week 2018
« on: February 05, 2018, 08:07:09 PM »
An alternative to Drag Week. This is pretty much in my backyard this year so I am going to have to consider it this year. It is a little more laid back than Drag Week in that they have two "drive days" during the week where that's all you do. Some of the race times are in the evening too. It does last a day longer than DW too. Some of my friends say they are going and I have family near at least one of the tracks and would be nice to have them come out and watch. But I still consider Drag Week as the "big show".
A 2 1/2 hr drive to the starting track versus 18hrs for DW is appealing too.

I've watched this event the last couple of years. Larry Larson has pretty much dominated it like he did the first 4-5 years of DW. It definitely looks more laid back than Drag Week, and a lot fewer cars. I think it'd be a great even to attend, just to far for me to consider. Drag Week is definitely the King of these events though. Hope you keep us updated, Alan.

After I posted this I remembered my Mom's birthday is June 15th, the day before RMRW starts. She will be 85 and I imagine we'll have some sort of celebration for her on that Saturday. So it may be DW for me after all.

I was able to get to a couple of the tracks a few years back when my buddy Brett was running it in his Lexus. There's some pretty serious stuff that shows up. I was surprised. Some west coast guys that get neglected. Brett's trying to get me to go this year, but I don't know what I'd take. Have nothing truly suited to do the job haha.

Well I decided to go ahead and sign up, you know...just in case. Registration is MUCH easier for RMRW. I entered the Mustang in the true street class index 11.00-11.99. I don't they have sold out yet so there is still time for anyone wanting to give it a try in the lower Midwest.

The last three years they have held the event at the same four tracks. Two in Colorado, one in Kansas and one in Nebraska. I guess they decided to mix things up a little this year.

Alan, where are you from?

I'll have to see if work allows, but may try to sneak out, those are within possible distance from Omaha

I live in Belle Plaine, Ks...just south of Wichita. With the exception of Rogersville, Mo I will be no more than 3 hrs from my house this time. I hope this move to the Midwest makes RMRW take off like it did for DW. Before 2014, when it came to most of these same tracks, it took weeks for DW to sell out, if it did at all. Look at it now, it sells out in less than 10 min.

I agree, it'd be great, unfortunately looks like it may be happening the same time as the Shelby show.  Also, as much as I like the midwest, man I hate to trust that I won't end up in a hailstorm that time of year.
