Ran into a couple issues suggestions??

I started cleaning the intake up for my 390 and I noticed a couple things.  I have no where to fill the engine with oil. My heads and intake are from a 66 (fills from vc)  my vc's are 64 merc no holes in them (fills from Intake pipe). Plus I have no place for pcv valve. Any ideas drill intake??

No holes in the valve covers, no holes in the intake, how are you planning on venting the engine?  You're going to have to add valve cover breathers or another way of venting, or you will blow out every seal/gasket in that engine.  Whatever you add to vent the engine, that's where you'll fill the oil.

If your intake has the flat pad at the back (see pic, not your intake but...) it could be opened up to accept the old style standpipe (forget the name now) to provide venting and a fill point.

OK great if mine doesn't have the pad what are my chances of finding raised letter vc's with holes in them?

Yep Blykins that's my problem. I love the raised letter mercury vc. I really want to stay with them otherwise I would just order some .  I didn't notice this issue till I already rounded up my parts.

What intake do you have? There were the pentroof “Mercury” valve covers that have holes. Here’s a screenshot from a pair for sale on my local Craigslist ( I don’t know the seller ). They turn up quite often.

You could just use an earlier intake with the oil fill. Sounds like you just have a stock cast iron intake. How hard cast iron FE intakes are to find varies by where you live, most places you can pick up for practically nothing. They don’t have much value and are too heavy to pay for shipping. Jay’s intake manifold testing found the common earlier C4SE cast intake made more power than the later ‘66-‘68 “S” cast intake also. Even if you find a used cast iron intake that is rusty if you have a local machine shop with a steel shot blast cabinet they can get make it look like new. Just a thought. The original intakes all look pretty similar to most people and then you could keep the distinctive valve covers.

Those pentroof “Mercury” vavle covers I linked are a little more expensive because the person custom painted them, just as used condition they tend to sell for around $75-$150. But yes, demand drives a higher price than a more common “Powered by Ford” style.

OK I will have to keep my eyes open for set .  I found a inline pcv valve I could install between intake and tb.  Just figuring out oil filler. So I have two options anyway.  Thanks all

C5AE-C should machinable. If your intake is an early 66 then it is the C5AE-C. I had one that was dated 64 and it had an oil fill and had a hole in the rear for a road draft tube.
