This particular model can test 11 types of material, and as you can see, three types of cast iron. Only one of those cast iron settings will be accurate on our FE blocks ( and do you you think I’d have been smart enough to write down which one?
). But as has been posted you can check your reading against a machined and measurable spot on the block with a micrometer or caliper, like the China wall or at the top of the block between two cylinders. Here’s a picture from the instructions.
