As I mentioned on Club Cobra, had Jay's book been out before I collected all the parts for my 428, I'd have gone a different way on the intake.  The book took a lot of what many took for granted as fact and turned it on it's ear.  It's not often that a single book can do this in the automotive world.

ummm Jay.  newsflash.

Your book is on par with "edelbrock aluminum heads" and "$2000 stroker kits" as far as the greatest thing that ever happened to the FE engine.
You did an intense amount of work... you stayed unbiased, you presented an amazing amount of information.  For me the book cost $30, for you the book costs $30,000 dollars....  it saved me and hundreds of Fe enthusiasts a thousand dollars in intakes and dozens of hours swapping them out.

It used to be when someone was getting into the FE engine that everyone would say "buy Steve Christs book"  even tho a lot of the information sucks.  Now if anyone is interested in an FE motor, even before they buy a core engine, Barry Rodknock and Jay "wanna be leno" Brown both have a book out that needs to be purchased and studied.

I agree with Drew wholeheartedly.  Compared to some of the other really incomplete texts out there, it really shines.  It's a great reference, written and presented clearly.  I've already suggested it to several of my FE pals as a good book to have on hand.

Wishlist if you've ever got the time:  a couple of 390 builds.  I know you're a racer, but if you've still got the gear around, I think it would be a real shot in the arm for the FE to take a look at stock stroke/bore combinations.

I love your book and Barrys too.Both books have taken the fe into the modern era .We have reference material equal to the sbc .And in just two books I still have my Steve Christ book too .I refer to all three for info I need .No doubt I am a better informed and better builder of fe engines .Doug

I pick it up from time to time and today while studying Dyno Data noticed that while the JBA Headers had essentially the same Average and Peak Figures for TQ and HP  as numerous top performing headers, they were severely ,,,, NO make that incomprehensibly lacking in low end grunt being off by what has to be felt like dragging an engine block with a chain on the Butt-O-Meter. Down about 100 lb-ft and 60Hp at 3,000 rpm on 390 Stroker to the other headers.
 So then of course that gets me wondering, if they are off so bad on low end, it should kill the average TQ/HP and where/how in hell do they make that average up to get their good Avg Figures?
        Time for more study and conjecture....
