Earliest MR heads
« on: June 22, 2012, 11:48:21 AM »
Anybody know when the earliest MR heads were cast?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-427-FE-ENGINE-MEDIUM-RISER-BIG-F-CYLINDER-HEAD-RARE-FORD-RACE-TEAM-PARTS-/230808979295?hash=item35bd49875f&item=230808979295&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

I am not sure how much of what this seller says is true but Dec 1964 has got to be about the time Ford started on these, no?

The 1965 model year began July 4, 1964. I don't know when the Medium Riser came out but have never seen any earlier date than this one. January 1965 would be mid - model year.

Thanks,
I would like to find one of the old parts books if they show the 'cut in' date for the head. The first production castings would have to precede that by 2-3 months or more.
The HRM road test galaxie (April 65 issue) was claimed to have the 'new' MR equipment. If the car was off the production line and not converted by the engineers I would assume it could have been built around February 1, 1965.
