It was very foggy at the hotel in Rochelle in the morning, but suddenly cleared about 10 miles north on the way to Byron, and we had a nice day at the track. They had an excellent turn out of spectators there. I snapped a couple pictures.

Jared with his Crown Vic & I got paired up for our run. If anyone happened to get a picture of that let us know. As you can probably guess the photographers tend to take a break when the Mark VIII pulls to the line lol. Byron has a burnout box you have to back into, and I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I had real violent wheel hop on my burnout. I tried modulating the throttle and brakes, but just couldn't get it to quit. Then when I staged the car and started brake torqueing it I caught it creeping in the lights and wound up going deep. That wasn't the plan when you're trying for the quickest pass. I ended up running 15.41 @ 92, and wasn't real happy with that. Obviously for me it's not real critical what time I turn, but still I decided to go right back up for another pass. I still had some bad wheel hop on my burnout again, but nowhere near as bad. My coolant temp was much higher this time though. Previous run I left the line about 170, this time it was at 200 degrees. I ran a 15.26 ( if I remember ) but at 90+ mph. I attribute the lower mph to the higher engine temp. But I was happier with that time and turned it in. They didn't have scale working at Byron, so I couldn't weigh the car, which was disappointing since I only had about a quarter of a tank of gas, the least so far, and was sure it would have been under 4000 lbs. The road trip from the track was pretty short tonight, only about 158 miles. Quite a few competitors along the roadside though taking advantage of various shady areas to work on their cars. Second checkpoint tonight was park in Lake Geneva Wisconsin, I snapped a picture of marina dock area they had right there.
