Rod Bearing Squirt hole

Do any rod bearings come notched for the rod squirter hole? I was putting together an engine tonight and wondering why they aren't notched. Was the theory for these abit like the piston squirters used on factory and high performance engines now? Would it be a good idea to do it? Opinions?

Theory was to spray oil on the opposing cylinder wall - a carryover from really old engines, probably dates from before pressure lubrication. It was never needed, and virtually all bearings and rods have dropped the feature.
