Bear Block Motor performance heads??
« on: March 12, 2017, 08:57:17 AM »
Any of you guys remenber BBM writing about new heads they were developing. They vere based on High Riser heads and there should be two versions of them along with matching intakes. Has there been any progress? I know todays BBM heads are very good, but this set up they sort of "pre-advertised" was mentioned to be totally different animals. Any information...Jay, Blair?? Thanks

I haven't heard a thing about it.  Blair would know if there is anything happening there...

Nothing in awhile. Dennis from DSC was also talking about new Tunnel Port heads as well, but I think that was probably more of a fishing expedition.

I love the MR BBM heads, and think high riser heads would be super cool, especially with a 1x4 and 2x4 intake available.  I think it's fantastic they are considering making things like that.
but.....
I'm sure lots of people would be thrilled if both their heads AND iron/aluminum blocks would be available on a regular basis.  Fancy new 427 heads don't do me any good if I can't find a 427 block.

Not trying to be critical of a company, but the FE community already has too many vendors with spotty availability.  Blue Thunder comes to mind.... I'm certain the FE enthusiast would love for many of their parts to be "on the shelf" so to speak.  Same goes with 427 blocks.

That said,
thankyouverymuch BT, BBM, Survival, FE Power, DSC Motorsports, and all the others that lay out hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce high end parts for us hobby car guys.

Are Dove blocks still available?  I assumed they are...

Here is the original announcement from other FE-site. I sure hope this is ongoing Project :-)

BBM is working in collaboration with Blair Patrick to develop two new BBM High Riser cylinder head castings, as well as a dual plane 1x4 manifold with a 4150 carb flange with ports to fit the as cast heads. The ultra modern high velocity intake ports will be offered in two different castings. One with throat diameter for 2.09 valves, enabling 350+ cfm flow from a less than 170cc runner. This version will compliment the smaller bore FEs, and ultimate torque in 390 based strokers. The other High Riser casting will be for 2.19 and larger valves, 370-ish flow capability as-cast with proper prep, and plenty of material to port for the largest FE intake valves, if desired. The larger port will be around 190 cc. Both heads will feature raised floors as cast, but will have enough material to port match to OEM manifolds if desired. We plan to develop a 2x4 single plane manifold as well. Our plan is to continue to develop the wedge FE design, and bring ultimate wedge FE induction to the market.

Still have plans to do this.........I have the ports, but we need to do some work on the valve cover rail and also do a manifold.  Time is the hard item right now, but still planning to do it.
