Found this number while replacing my oil pan. What does it mean? Partial vin?

If it is stamped in the back of the block, right below where the driver's side head would be, it is the last six digits of the serial number of the vehicle that the block came in.

It is right where the front, drivers side corner of the oil pan goes.
