My 1980 Accel catalog shows its a Dual Point Racing II distributor for a FE. The catalog picture shows a different cap, not sure if Accel changed it later to the cap you have or if someone converted it.

I have been informed that its for a marine application, thats why the points are hidden under the cover.
Not sure about its performance application though?

Its a 37000 series Dual Point ,a later model with the Big Cap and the plate on top , that is Not a cover its a support for the shaft / Bearing Plate  , they will rev to 8000 no problem ,( as long as the Bearings are good )  very stable , uses GM style Points and condenser , I have a Chev SB / BB 37000 series  Dist at my shop now , a very good unit

Memory fades since being in the parts business, but I think the 37000 series will take a SBC/350 type cap - just FYI.
