What are the flow characteristics of the C0-D castings compared to later stuff like C4-G, C6-R, C8-H, given same valve sizes? Unmodified ports.

~220 cfm with 2.020-2.035" intake valve.  Been a while since I flowed anything that old, but those numbers should be close.  The later heads ~230-235cfm as cast.  C6-R with larger intake valve will go into the upper 240s.  CJ size valve will net ~250-256 cfm.  Joe-JDC

I only clicked on this because I thought it had something to do with the song.

Thanks, Joe. I'm trying to figure out if the increased compression from the small chambers offsets the lower flow, in a 390 with a 280-ish adv cam. How much do you think CJ int and ex valves would bump that? Bowl blend?

I listened to Dr. Demento when I lived in L.A., but only on occasion. The song to which you refer did not ring a bell for me. However, there was one famous song in that vein that I heavily identified with. It spoke to the very essence that is me:

Argh?... that reminds me of a joke. A pirate goes into a bar with a steering wheel attached to his belt buckle.
Bartender says "hey, what's up with the steering wheel"?
Pirate says "Argh, it's driving me nuts.
What goes fast doesn't go fast long'
What goes fast takes your money with it.
So I'm slow & broke, what went wrong?
