Finnegan and Freiburger run HOT ROD's Drag Weekend

Roadkill brings back a Mazda pickup powered by a 455 Oldsmobile in the bed! In Episode 45, Mike Finnegan and David Freiburger bought a lemon-colored Mazda REPU mini-truck with a 455 Olds big-block mounted in the bed, powering the rear wheels through a Toronado transaxle. The seller said it did wheelies and ran 10s in the quarter-mile. Not surprisingly, the guys quickly realized the lemon wouldn't run 10s even if it had unicorn blood in the engine. In this episode of Roadkill, the guys pull out all the stops to push the Mazdarati into 10-second territory by doing a top-end rebuild in the staging lanes of a dragstrip, road-tripping on HOT ROD's Drag Weekend event, and then making one heroic pass with the nitrous button pushed!

Would the way they started with a Naturally Aspirated and finished with a Power Adder even been allowed at DRAG WEEK?.............
Those Tornado/Eldorado Trans-Axles look to be tough..GM even built a bunch of good-sized motor homes with them..zillions of them must have been junked.

If they entered Daily Driver it would have been legal. The ET slip would not have been legal. No roll bar in the truck. I'm sure they were just along for laughs and filming Roadkill.

Oh and SOME of the rules were bent for Drag weekend...

Some of their stuff is pretty fun to watch.  They did another show with a 351C - as a "Cleveland guy" they really botched the whole thing.  They will really have to be - continue to be- inventive to sell video views since all that is part of Motor Trend OnDemand now.  I'm not sure yet if it's going to be worth $5/mth for access.  It's possible - I don't watch a lot of TV from the couch, but with my Galaxy Tab A and Chromecast on the 42" LCD in the shop, I could have them running on the big tube while working.   "All your favorite shows!"   - maybe 2? 3? Maybe.  The advertise that it works with Roku, if I cant throw with Chromecast they are out because I'm not going to drop more $ on a Roku stick.

You can still watch for free on Youtube. Just a month after it comes out. I can wait... At least the show is as real as it can get. They will tell you when life gets in the way and projects take more time then expected. They are at least getting their hands dirty and wrenching on stuff themselves. Mike and Dave work together well, and the show is entertaining.

I had no idea they skipped the California leg they had last year. If I had known, I could have humped the Mercury into action. I'm so out of the loop. waaah.
