Agreed, I'd like to see more cars in this segment.  But, when's the last time you saw one on the road?

MT is massively well known for doing 'puff' pieces. You'll note that there was high incidence of stating opinion as fact.

The last version of that same car was, very soon, a substantial yawn. Much like the Cheetah---brought out to rival the Cobra---never did much, I'll predict the same end for the SS.

IMO, this is what the Taurus SHO should have been. You know, the version nobody ever sees and is virtually indistinguishable from a rental car. Six liters, advanced suspension, and a MANUAL TRANS. Low 13-second 1/4 mile!

My viewpoint is from driving around in Crown Vic PI's. I like sleeper four doors that handle. The CV is relatively slow, though. Coyote swaps are starting to gain momentum, so...

I dragged some cash out from under a rock and did an inventory check through all the local Chevy dealers this morning. Every SS they had was an AUTOMATIC. "You are the only person that wants a manual", they said.

GM for the loss.

As for puff, are you aware of who their test driver is? Running the piss out of test cars around a track by a pro ain't puff. Cheetah/Cobra? Gotta be kidding with that analogy. Go back to your 100-proof swale, I mean swill.

Agree on the Taurus.
Agree on sleepers that handle.
Wouldn't ever bother checking Louie's company.
Agree GM loss.
I'm in the business, I know what a puff piece is and that was one. The driver was paid.
3 outta 5 ain't bad.  :)

So, you're saying that all the video of the car in action was rigged. Sound track, too? Any links to reviewers that don't get paid? Are we losing track of the fact that magazine reviewers have been compensated for their time (probably so they can eat) for, oh, the last 60 or 70 years?

The idea is to garner enough input to warrant a test drive. Yes, it is a Chevy, but there is nothing else in this segment and price range. Nothing.

Argh.

Just look at the failure of the recent GTO which was a damn good car! Specialty cars in recent years have not sold well at all (T-Bird, GTO, SS pickup and more).

Just saying it was a well prepped car that I'll bet doesn't represent what's actually for sale to us peeps.
Though I wish it was.
And I'm way to jaded to believe what I see anymore.

one of the gals at my work bought one about a month ago. It is an automatic car. She let her husband run it at Rock Falls a week ago and it ran a traction limited 13.30's. She likes the car but has been driving her SS pickup lately because she missed her truck, so I am not so sure how super the SS really is. Jim

So you like Vics too? I daily drive an 03 that I have slightly modded. I added the P71 speedo, Cobra trac lok, Ford Racing 3.73 gears, 31 spline axles, Powerstop drilled/slotted rotors, painted calipers, Cobra wheels, Procomp intake, BBK 73mm throttle body, 04 P71 air box and tube w/K&N filter, Ford Racing 24lb injectors, SCT tuner. OBX long tube header and exhaust kit waiting for me to install along with a TCI deep sump trans pan. Trick Flow top end kit and 5 speed swap whenever I get the time and money.

I could post a pic if you or Jay don't mind.
