Just another 445 build
« on: April 28, 2016, 07:16:57 PM »
Dunno what else to say.
Thanks to all those involved, especially Brent Lykins, Ben Hertel, FERoadster, et el.

Leaving for work in a few days.  Only part I lack is starter.  (well, and I'll pull the guts outta my c6 and stuff them in an FE case).

I'll be home in June, hope to get test fitting and cam break-in done at that time.

Thanks again to all that helped with parts, advice, or both.
Drew

Awesome Drew!  Should be a real "honker". Love those T-Bird covers too.

Drew great look. Is that a BT intake?
Traded my C7ZX for a new in box BT 2X4. I understand they are like hens teeth.
Later this year Brent will get some of my hard earned savings for a pair of Quickfuel 715's

Yeah man, BT 2x4.  Super nice piece.  Everything on it was perfect, REALLY wish they would cast more parts and keep them out there.

I kinda had my heart set on BT valve covers with no holes, but they aren't available anywhere at the moment.  Kinda digging the Tbird covers tho.  Totally nails the sleeper feel.  Hardest part of the build was painting the heads, but it'll be worth it at the track :P

Well I had a thread here asking about pros/cons of bj/bk carbs vs QF and Ben offered me some 600cfm QF's he had laying around.  That and a card of parts in them is the extent of what I know.

They should work decently in my 446

Ok, cool.
I ask because I am in the market for a set and was wondering about the QFs as I just bought a 780 for my 441 and really like it (because of it's adjustability). However their website is not the greatest for information, it's kinda general.
I'll check out your old thread.
Thanks

Ben said he got these from BarryR.  I was going to get mine from Brent (as I'd been dealing with him for this build).

I think these are not really an off the shelf thing so much as a custom deal.  I do have a spec card I can post, but you'd really be best contacting one of those mentioned above regarding what is best for your application.

Yeah thanks man.
Right or wrong, original or not.... for some reason this exact setup is kinda what I always day dreamed about, appearance wise if nothing else.
Hopefully another week or so and I can have it test fired, just crossing my fingers that the cam breakin goes well, after that it's time to burn off some tires.

Drew, nothing wrong with drinking hard after a night of wrenching.  Chain smoking though, that steals too much money nowadays!

Looks like a fun ride, nice work
