A little more progress on the FE powered '65 Stang
« on: April 02, 2016, 07:12:00 PM »
I finished all the bodywork on the main body and put the final coat of primer on today(I hope!). Another step forward.  ;D I still need to do the doors, fenders, hood and trunk too but it is coming around...finally.

I'm a little behind you Alan on my Fairlane.
Been studying primers lately.
What did you end up using and how do you like it?

Before I put the final coat on I used some sprayable filler called Z-chrome. It is a really high build up primer that I used to help level out the low spots on my quarters. Then I sprayed on a final coat of 2K filler primer that I thinned just a little to help flow. Since this is my first time painting a car I don't have anything to compare it to. I know that Z-chrome stuff worked real well in getting my quarters smoothed out.

Thanks for the Z chrome tip.
You're making me think that I may want to tackle a bit more than I thought I would.
I'm thinking of getting the Fairlane totally into primer as you have done, then take it to a paint shop.
But the way it's going I may end up trying the paint myself. We'll see about that.
Anyway, thank you for the inspiration.
