For anyone who gives a damn, I did find some interesting commentary at this site (and not just this one article either) on what the heck happened with the points penalty being rescinded. Seems many are upset by this action and NASCAR's cavalier attitude of essentially saying, it's over, move on, nothing to see here!
http://www.racintoday.com/archives/33999Interesting too that until about the first 1/2 of the Bristol race (I tend to not watch every lap) I hadn't quite noticed that the FOX TV team kept the cameras drilled on closeups. Well, at the 1/2 way mark the cameras started to show a much wider angle view and, lo and behold, the stands were about 1/2 empty.
I thought the early a.m rain that was mentioned was the cause but......clicking on some other Racintoday.com articles, they spell out the massive decline in attendance in the last handful of years at Bristol and why. Sad but it could not have happened to a nicer bunch of NASCAR officials in my book! Give the races back to the racers, I say.
