Sure hope you make it in, Alan.  Especially if your FE Mustang is ready...

I am just about ready to squirt some primer on the 'Stang so yes, that is my plan. I just need to decide if I will keep the MII front end or go Gasser style with a dropped straight axle.  :) Since I replaced the rear frame rails with 2x3 tubing(although still in stock location) I am not sure what class that would put me in. Plus a straight axle would be cool. If I go that route I plan to use a 4-link bar set up with coil-overs(ala Two Lane Blacktop '55 Chebbie) rather leaf springs. I think that setup looks cleaner.

Unfortunately, you need the stock front frame rails to run in Street Race, Super Street, or Modified.  Maybe the Gasser or Hot Rod classes?  I'm not sure about the rules in those classes.  And of course you can always run in Street Eliminator; pretty sure there's no rules there except 10.0 for the minimum ET.

I still have the stock front frame rails, it's only the rear I replaced. I might be able to get in Super Street, depending on how you  interpret the rules or Modified if I install a ladder bar/4 link in the rear. At any rate I need to get the car painted and go from there.

As long as you have the stock front frame rails, I think you could get into Super Street if you stayed with leaf springs in the rear and just sent Hot Rod a picture of your rear frame rail modifications.  And you could certainly get into Modified if you went ladder bar or four link.

This is the best time of year for Drag Week. All the hopes and aspirations, the new builds, the freshened old warriors.

No anguished calls from the dyno room, or FedEx overnight Saturday shipping, or MIA NHRA inspectors yet.

HR is still stuck on high-boy style so the solid axle is a good idea. No Ohio George style Mustangs which frosts me a bit.

Rear frame rail mods for "traditional mini-tubs" are still ok for Super Street with the stock concept suspension. With a little work and the right shocks the Cal-tracs and their split mono springs can realy be effective even on a high stance car. Just be sure the fornt spring eye is lower than the rear.

You know I sent them a pic of my Mustang with the nose up and told them I could achieve this with my MII front end with a little modification. My thought was(and is) that the factory standard wheelbase Mustang A/FX cars did not have straight axles anyway. The reply I got back was to wait until the new rules came out. When they did I found that they dropped the A/FX part of the Gasser/AFX class and specifically said "No MII front suspensions."
Here is a pic of my car with the front raised MII suspension.

Bill, you sure hit the nail on the head LOL!  The sleepless nights, endless credit card bills, and countless setbacks are far off at this point.  Just wait 'til August...
