Jay Leno's 427 SOHC Cobra
« on: December 02, 2015, 10:08:48 PM »
On Jay Leno's Garage right now, it will repeat multiple times over the week. On CNBC cable. This is episode 8.

Without giving too much away I will say I think Mr Leno should have Mr Brown "tune up" the Cammer a bit ;)

In the interest of accuracy, the car is a replica, not an original 427 Cobra. Here's a picture of the engine I lifted off the internet.

Don't know if its the same car but it looks like it..When I was building Cobra's in the early 90's I remember Jay having a Cobra replica. It was a M&L Cobra and was at the top of the ladder for replica's..What was of great interest about the car was it had a hand formed aluminum body.Pretty unique for the day..I remember it having a 427 but I don't remember the SOHC part....I didn't have a computer then so it was magazine articles only......

Rats!  I should have told him I'd charge him more to rebuild that motor... ;D ;D

If you notice when he drives out, there is a rag on the floor. Even Jay Leno hasn't beat the notorious oil leak on the FE at the rear seal / mains. He probably hasn't had the engine rebuilt in a long time though. Given the engine's age, I bet a lot of the parts are original.

Watched that last night - grandma whooped his butt in her Tesla.  they didn't say whether she had it in "insane" or "ludicrous" driving mode.
