I don't normally disagree about carburetors and hp, but with tuning and dyno testing, an Edelbrock/Quadrajet/Autolite/ can make horsepower comparable to the same cfm Holley. Most folks just bolt on Edelbrocks out of the box and when it is down on power, throw it on the bench and stick an old Holley back on, never really optimizing the Edelbrocks. Years ago, testing proved if everything is optimized in various carburetor makes, and the sizes are the same, the hp will be very close. Having said that, a friend bought 4 Holley 750 performance carbs, and tried all of them on the same engine, and one made about 10-11 hp more than the others---same carbs, all set up on the dyno, and one just stood out of the bunch. I believe the Edelbrock RPM 8V when ported and flow balanced can be just as effective in making horsepower as the BT 8V. Jay did not test a ported intake, but I have ported them, and the owners started breaking things because of the power produced. Just saying--- Joe-JDC
