Adjustable Timing set.
« on: October 31, 2015, 05:41:12 PM »
Barry, I see on your sight that you actually have your adjustable timing set listed for sale at $349. With a part number of #Survt1 ..is this true? Is it now available?
I must have missed it if you mentioned here that they were now for sale. This would be great news. Also, alot of the things you have listed say they will ship in 3 or 4 days, I'll be making an order here soon for several things  and I'd like to know what's the best way to find out what you have in Stock or how long it maybe would take to get the parts. Should I call? Or possibly e mail a list of the parts ? Haven't  had much luck with e mailing you in the past, but I'm quite sure your a very busy man.. thanks for any kinda heads up, if you got what I need I'd rather get it from you than the big mail order giants. .

Best call or email on most stuff these days.  The "3 or 4 days" thing was a default setting from the web site/ecommerce bundle and its proven hard to get changes to "stick" - seems that every time they do an update to the software it bounces back to the default again.  And a LOT of parts have become very spotty in delivery these past few years.  Our industry has decidedly not recovered from the recession by any significant degree - that's why you see so many corporate buyouts going on - some pretty famous brand names are still on the ropes & just hanging on.

I have only made a few of the timing sets so far.  One was used in this past engine masters contest to "prove the concept" - 54 7000 RPM dyno pulls with a solid roller and +/-800lb springs looks like a success to me.  Jay has another, and Cloyes has the third.  I can make more doing them one at a time, but eally want to move them into a production environment.  Cloyes has not gone forward with the design, so I need to find another shop to make the top sprocket.

Hoping your making progress, I really think there would be a decent market for it.

I'd buy the set just to have it.

I keep pestering Barry about this; I'd like to be able to offer a package with my timing cover and the adjustable timing chain.  One without the other is kind of half a solution.  We talked a couple days ago and it sounds like Barry will be moving forward shortly; he is completely buried as usual with some engine builds, but hopefully he'll find the time...

In keeping with tradition Jay I'd pick up the entire set next summer. ;)

It would be great. I need to do something in the next month or so. Maybe could hold out till February. Only reason I haven't gotten a cover yet. Would love the Barry/Jay combo.. That would be my first choice.  Next would be a toss up between the cam research adjustable cam drive and a dannybee, . ofcourse with the dannybee I wouldn't need that very nice cover of Jay's ..

Has anyone thought about or played with the idea of using the gear set from lets say the small block ford cloyes quick adjust , and adapting it to fit and using a custom length chain set ? Cam sprockets mount the same way with the single bolt, I'm sure the pin location would have to change along with other mods, .. Idk, I'm sure if it would work that surely Barry would have went that route instead of having to fab up one set from two.
