Meltdown Drags
« on: July 22, 2015, 10:03:08 AM »
I attended all 3 days and had a great time. I must have made 10 or 12 runs during the 3 days.

A  LOT of Fords showed up this year  Mostly FE's   Plenty of Galaxies and Fairlanes with some Comets and Falcons too.  In the pit area was an under construction 56 Ford gasser with a CAMMER. Can't wait to see that one on the track.

Here is some video of Sat afternoon.. My car appears at 4:16. I have the 56 Merc.. 433 Lincoln Y Block, 3 on the tree. The green 57 in the other lane was FE powered.

I think you may have driven past my swap meet stand once or twice. I think I was probably about the only one selling Ford stuff. ::) Cool car btw. :D Unfortunately my car was not ready, or I would have liked to have taken it. Maybe next year. Here's another link with my buddy JamesonRacing and his 66 at the beginning.

Ok, now you're just bragging because you beat an FE ;D

That Mercury looks cool. Very retro. Those things look really sharp and ride like a dream when they're fixed up. I love ALL of the mid-fifties Fords.

The "steam cloud" in the backgroud is from the nuclear plant there at Byron.

I never got to talk to the guy with the 57. We were both in E/GS  13.50 and slower

Thanks for sharing...great to see folks having quarter mile fun with old cars.  Absolutely the very best way to recycle 'em.

Kind of nice to see some of those cars running in the 13s/14s/15s for a change.  I had more fun racing my 69 Mach I with a 302 at 13.0, than FE at 10.94.  Won more money, also.  ;) Joe-JDC

I wish i could find the Video, but our fastest Y Block was a 55 T bird 340 cu 4 speed running 12.32s    My car is hampered by nearly stock suspension,  3:50 gears and 3 speed on the tree.  With deeper gears there is a 13 and maybe 100 mph in it.

Nice Royce. I did see a lot of rear tire shake at launch due to the stock parts. Maybe some tractions bars to avoid breakage? Hate to see any broken driveline stuff.

You're right, it was a Jerico. Pretty cool indeed. A proper gasser with that instead of a slush box. ;)
