Fairly mild solid flat tappet 428

Here's a fairly mild 428 from many years ago.  Ran fine on 91 octane pump gas.   Valve train was little finicky with the aggressive camshaft.

Just FYI, I took the stroke length (3.985") and the rod length (6.483") off of my old piston order form from 2005.

I was PM'd by a member inquiring about those numbers, as they're not the standard numbers.   It got me to thinking (insert joke here  :o ).

Are those the actual true measurements?  Did my machinist add or subtract a few thousandths on the form he sent to JE for safety's sake?  Did he "move things around a bit" in the machining process and consequently those are correct numbers?  How much variation is there in factory spec's?

I just thought I'd bring that up for the sake of conversation.  Any piston guys or engine builders have some input?
