Yeh it's cool. 428, twin 4's, 4 speed, off its tit, on gas. Love the period wheels on it. You just don't see them anymore and they suit it to a tee.

Speaking of period correct wheels....20 years ago...he he he..

Any idea what the wheels are?

I think the front ones are Magnums. Not sure on the rear, could be Magnums too, that size wasn't real common 'in the day'.

They look like "non-Ansen" Sprints if you know what I mean... I checked a few wheel brands; Mickey Thompson, American Racing (who still sell Ansen Sprints), Weld, Rocket, US Wheel, Magnum, and none that look just like them.  If you could read the caps on the front wheels that would be the giveaway IMO.

My fave is the beautiful blue '40!  Andy many of the plates read SA, are you in Adelaide?

The reason I asked is, an old friend of mine owns a business in Lonsdale called Transco Mfg.  They make and sell mining and oilfield drilling tools / services.  I've had a chance to visit your city a few times and must say it's quite nice...

Btw you can buy a very nice repro of the Fairlane 500 script for your rear quarters. I run them on my '66.  Autokrafters or Dearborn Classics has them.

Thanks and nice pics. That all black '67 Galaxie looks really swoopy. Always loved that curved rear window.

Hi Bruce
Whereabouts are you? I have the rear quarter badges but don't like them. The 500XL is a bit chunky for my liking. If it was an original car I would probably put them on. I live not far from Lonsdale. Lots of small manufactures there. Glad he is still around in these times of shrinking manufacturing.

Andy,
I'm located in SE Texas, Houston area but work in the oil industry thus the trips to Oz, including SA. As far as I know Transco is still going strong; having business in both mining and petroleum helps balance out when one is down.

Great looking Fairlane too!  I've had mine 17 years, I guess not quite as long as you... was yours imported by a private party or did Ford build and sell the 2-doors new there?

Ford never offered them here, it was privately imported. Our Fairlanes of a similar era had too many doors and looked like this
