«

Im swapping out rockers from alum to steel and on my first check push rods seem pretty short ... are they ok to run like this or not ? there about 5 threads out... Im going to swap them all over to hd shafts and use spacers and end stands ...I would rather not reorder push rods being these one are very spendy smith rods...thanks

Just out of curiousity, what are your cam specs? I would not be afraid to run them that way on a street engine. The factory rockers are pretty tough. I have NEVER seen one break at the back, or anywhere for that matter.

Personally, I wouldn't run them like that. Call up Smith and see how much it would cost to swap tubes on your pushrods. I had to have all 16 of my cups replaced last year (Thanks again comp cams and your junk adjusters!
) and was pretty surprised at how affordable it was.

I think you could run that that way if you aren't going to be exceeding 6500 RPM or so. In fact I've done that, with a very similar setup. Its not ideal, but it will work.

Thanks ..... I got them installed and the rev limit is set to 6g ...no need to rev it to the moon ... 6 g is peek hp on this motor so 6g rev limit is only slightly short. I would like a set of t&d's But I have to let the wallet recover from a spendy winter..... thanks ...

They'll run OK that way. I've done it before. Just watch out for intake clearance - having the pivot that low makes them move side to side more in the hole. Watch carefully during pre-oiling to make certain that the squirt oil is getting into the ball/cup.
