Another thing you want to do if going for a big hook, is to weld a support tab on the back of
the rear spring perches.

Thanks for the picture. I'm a little concerned about the 3" offset. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Could you explain what you mean by a support tab? Are you talking about a lateral support welded between both sides of the spring hangers to keep them from flexing side to side?

Like these.
The light duty ones can and will fold up under good traction.

I see now.
I don't have to worry about that. My rear consists of an aftermarket narrowed Currie axle housing with 3" tubes, heavy duty spring perches, big bearing ends with the larger 3" drum brakes, Moser 31 spline axles, Nodular center section with Daytona support, billet yoke and a Detroit Locker. When I built the car, I built it to handle anything I could throw at it.

Got to love the heavy duty Currie housing.
I'm actually going down the same path as you Doug.
Going for a BIG hook.
I plan on using my "new to me" weapon.
Of course hooked up to my heavy duty Currie. ;D

Nice Jerico.
The Toploader is actually the weakest link in my drivetrain, but it's not a full time drag car so I think it will live for a while. I would like to put a Gear Vendors behind it though.
