One of the many issue's with the FE is how warm they run, well this gets compounded by 2 fold when your dealing with a 60's era Thunderbird. So I had Ron Davis build me a custom radiator all based of of my Cad drawings and man do those cats build a nice product!

















And yes I know I installed the Sway bar wrong, But we are still in Mock up and it didnt matter.

So did you just omit the expansion tank? Mine has ALWAYS leaked.

Very nice setup.
I also like the other cooling fans you have installed to help deal with under hood temp issues.

The answer is yes, I hated that set-up, I am not apposed to an expansion tank by any means.................but the FE expansion take set-up all but sux!

Those fans actually have an oil cooler and trans cooler underside of each fan, the will pull air from under the car and pressurize the engine bay with additional air. as of right now there is 5600 CFM of air pressurizing that engine bay when all is on!

how much gap do you have between the shroud and the fins?

If you are referring to the depth of the shroud the answer is 1"

I'm running a 4 core Howe aluminum radiator and having zero heat issues with the factory expansion tank gone, having the thing out of the way is bonus enough.  Also running an ordinary parasitic stock looking fan.  The system is closed with a simple overflow/return jug mounted to the core support.

Bad Byrd, that is one quality looking piece, right down to the welds 8)

Dove makes a top-and-bottom bolt-together cast aluminum tank. Works great!

Yep, that's why I commented on yours, its a great lookin' unit.  Since I'm building on a budget though, my scratch is going elsewhere for the moment so I've gotta stick with fugly but e-effen-fective :D.  For me, some of what I'm doing is based upon how well it works in my application, so style points can fall by the wayside sometimes.

Just curious, with that much airflow into the engine compartment, how are you getting it out? If there is no way for it to escape, then airflow will be drastically reduced no matter how many fans there are. Getting heat out of the engine compartment is as important, if not more, than getting air into it.

As for me, I've gotta say solid point.  I've got the teardrop hood, moving air out above along with whatever goes out below certainly has impact.
