Painted the motor today

It isnt that it was bad before, it just wasnt as detailed as I like them too be, So I masked it all of and shot it with some VHT high temp wrinkle! I think it turned out good!

I'm digging on that krinkle finish too. Nice looking 406. Are you running two Carb spacers?

Yes and no on the 2 spacers, I had a leveling spacer and a Phenolic spacer, I have drawn a phenolic spacer "1 piece" that will both elevate and level...............its at the machinist.

Never saw the wrinkle finish used before....and I like the way it contrasts all the aluminum. I also like how the entire bottom is black. Looks good.

Damn!  what boosters are in that 4150 Holley?

The black crinkle looks really good.  I had a Chrysler 440 many years ago that was painted flat black, in a white '65 Coronet sedan.  Yours reminded me of that.  Yours looks better.

Thats actually a Custom built Quick fuel 850 with Annular booster.

That's the nicest looking motor I've seen. I'm not a big fan of too much chrome (to each his own) and that finish with the aluminum and stainless look is really sweet IMO.

I think it turned out great, I am thinking that the deep sump pan might have to go and a T pan installed but we will see in a few more weeks when she finally goes in!

Looks nice, but it sure is hard to keep clean and even harder to spot where an oil leak is coming from.   ;)  My son bought one of my mustangs where I had painted the block black, and he swore he would never have another black engine.  Kinda funny to me, since the HP engines back in the day had the blocks painted black from Ford.  I like the intakes and valve covers painted in Krinkle and then polish the lettering or ribs to show.  Joe-JDC

Actually Joe a black motor isnt hard to keep clean at all if a clear coat is applied, this isnt my first black motor and if you look close at. Twin cam or evo Harley motor with 45k on the odometer they still look damn good...... Reason base coat clear coat. Same was done here. As far as leaks go, well being a Ford I am sure it will leak eventually but I am taking dvery precaision to ensure that doesnt happen
