Starter for stroker???

What starter are you guys using on your stroker builds, stock or after market mini's? Thanks

Bone stock for mine.  Seems like more guys have clearance or longevity problems with the minis from what I've read.  The stock starter seems to have plenty of torque, at least for a street engine.

I send Powermaster or CVR starters out with my engines.  I like the gear reduction starters, and most are clockable so you can turn them whichever way you need to help with clearance/wiring/etc.  They will spin over about anything you hook them to.

I like the Powermaster and the RobbMc starters.  I've found the stock starters to be lacking when you combine high compression, a tight engine compartment, and a hot day...

Gear reduction that oddly enough was on my old Flathead.  It has a "clockable" base that will allow you to move the starter itself in any position, which has been super handy with headers.

I am kind of with Barry on this one, I have yet to need anything accept a Stock Starter for any vehicle accept the Bad Byrd.......................reason for that is just to gain some header clearance! I am sure I could have gotten away with the stock starter but they where just to close for my taste!

Same here, I am not pulling the numbers Barry is, but my 600-ish HP 489 has had the same starter in it since 1996, first in the 427, then in wiped off and used with the 489 in 2007.  One time I considered swapping it and realized I had a weak Optima.  Put the weak optima in the 445 truck (also a stock starter) and a new battery in the Mustang, all is well
