S-93 Paxton supercharger
« on: October 09, 2013, 07:52:52 PM »
I have a S-93 Paxton and it seems to me to hard to turn. It does turn smooth is this normal for this unit. I have a pair of these and the other one turns the same but it feels rough like it has a bad bearing. I mostly read on these forums and try to soak up info. I have been a certified mechanic for the past 30 years and enjoy working on anything that challenges me. I had a 67 Fairlane stock eliminator  car for a few years and sold it to help fund a new 2010 CJ build. I have been searching for a 66 Comet 2DR sedan to put my 427 medium riser in.

I've only turned a couple of those by hand myself, but they are pretty hard to turn because of the gear ratio.  I think it is something like 5:1, so when you turn the shaft once the impeller rotates 5 times.  If you turn it as fast as you can and then let go, does it coast down, or does it stop immediately?  If it stops immediately you may have a problem.

I have not tried to spin it up. I will try to that tomorrow. Thanks for the reply.
