Oil drain back
« on: September 13, 2026, 07:20:29 PM »
So I was having some fun with rocker geometry, pushrod length, etc. and so forth. I decided to put the oil pan on and run the pump with a drill to keep main, rod and cam bearing well lubricated with the amount of crank rotation I was doing.  Lots of oil remained on top of the engine with the brass fittings meant to direct drain back to the front and rear of the block. After looking things over a bit I kept coming back to the same question.  Why not add a hole to allow the oil to drain back into the distributor shaft area?  Pic attached with the area I'm referring to circled in read.  As always, any thoughts are appreciated.

Your valley holes in the back of the block will allow it to drain.   It's different on the stand than running down the road in a vehicle.
