Hydraulic 427 production

Were all street 427 top oiler engines solid lifter only? Also what is the rundown for side oilers? And while we're at it the marine and industrial 427 engines.

I have never seen a center/top oiler with hydraulics, at least one that wasn't drilled by someone later

Side oilers I have seen, 68-72, not sure if they continued later, but D2 has been the latest I have had my hands on.

      To the best of my knowledge (which isn't terribly great) the only O.E.M. "street" (not "marine" or "industrial", etc.) 427 cu. in. hydraulic cam engine examples were in the 1968 Mercury Cougar 7.0 Litre GT-E's.  But that was a "side-oiler".

Thanks for the reply guys...sort of what I thought. I advised a friend who at the time was building a top oiler 427 to not use the Lemons rods. He used them anyway and is now on his second build because of...you guessed it, rods. So now his builder is talking hydraulic roller. I tried to tell him, we'll see.

I have a center oiler 427 block that was built for hydraulic lifters. It is a non-automotive block that came off an irrigation pump. It is also a two bolt main block.

I was wondering about yours.  I have only seen one and it was mostly together with one head off.  Bumper pistons, a big cartridge filter, never thought to look at the lifter bores.  It ran a big drying fan in Eagle, Nebraska.  I was buying some 428s from the man, but that one wasn't for sale.
