427 sohc cubic size

Well coupe is moving along , All brakes pumped up, steering almost done. Headers are next with many many mock ups done. So now not to far away from starting bottom end.

So with that this is what I have  alloy Pond block and heads , with a hilborn  fast 2 injection system ,

What size to go in cubic size. I have no problem with 427 but what are the pros and cons of going to different bore and stroke size on these engines

I'd go as big as possible.  The SOHC ports are designed for a 427" engine running flat out on a NASCAR oval track at some ungodly RPM (8000+).  If you increase the cubic inches the ports start working at lower engine speeds, plus the bigger cubes will pull harder on the ports at the top end too.  The only downside is if you want to run at extreme RPM levels; in that case a smaller engine's reciprocating assembly will survive higher speeds.  But I ran my 585" SOHC to 7500 RPM a lot and never had problems, so unless you are shooting for the 8000+, I'd go big on the cubes.

PS - The 520" SOHC in my Galaxie checked out when it hit the rev limiter at 8300 RPM, but it was fine when hitting the rev limiter at 8000 RPM.

You can go over 600" by using a tall-deck block and front cover, etc. from Dove. Kurt neighbor has one in his Comet.

That name and car sound familiar. Was he on My Classic Car or similar show?

I don't know! He lives in the Cleveland area, where he owns a business that deals with big trucks. He has been a drag racer forever---uses Dove stuff. He's built more than 50 Cammer engines.
